A New Adventure

A special Thank You to all the Intrapreneurs and Entrepreneurs around the world that have inspired me with their stories of heartache and success as Entrepreneurs Inside their organizations.

Intrapreneurs have come a long way but there are miles to go before we see Intrapreneurship integrated into the fabric of established organizations. This will only happen when it becomes a part of the hearts and minds of individuals throughout organizations.

Individuals that are dedicated to making a difference by being the change that they hope to achieve. Individuals that are willing to step on toes and break rules for what is right and just. Individuals that are willing to step up and lead during times of chaos, uncertainty, and ambiguity. Individuals willing to put their jobs on the line for what they believe. Individuals committed to the mission of creating a better world.

The number of Intrapreneurs and social intrapreneurs today have grown exponentially since I began working in this space back in 2006.  It is rewarding to see all they have accomplished and imagine all that they will ultimately achieve.  Now more than ever there are groups, communities, consultants, and academic institutions dedicated to developing, nurturing and supporting Intrapreneurs and social intrapreneurs.  There is no excuse for not becoming one.

It is no longer an insult to be called a maverick, disruptive, or a positive deviant.  It is actually a badge of courage. So, if you are one of the lucky ones that have been labeled this way you are probably headed in the right direction.  Like many of you, early in my career my ideas were called crazy, impossible, will never work but I persisted and made them a reality.

Corporate Entrepreneurs LLC was one of those ideas. Now after seventeen years in business supporting intrapreneurs, innovation teams and senior executives in search of the holy grail – Intrapreneurship – it is time for me to retire.  It has been an exciting adventure only made possible by the wonderful intrapreneurs, entrepreneurs, and leaders that I’ve met throughout these years.  They were the spark that lit the flame that got me started on my journey and they were there to support me every step along the way.  Thank You.

My hope for all of you is that your journey be as exciting and rewarding as mine. Step up, step out, and make your mark on business and society by being an Intrapreneur.  You won’t regret that you did.

What’s next……..

Retirement plans are to start writing a new version of the book titled Entrepreneurs Inside. Not who Intrapreneurs are inside a business – but who they are inside themselves – their inner workings.  Not what competencies and behaviors are important but what internal strengths are needed to succeed.

It is only through self-reflection and self-awareness that Intrapreneurs are able to transform themselves, their organizations, and the world around them.  It is the new reality and wisdom of our age.
